02 · Cómo es la expedición
6 días que no se parecen a nada que hayas hecho.
El Trek de Roraima cubre aproximadamente 65km de recorrido total. No es para todo el mundo — pero tampoco es alpinismo técnico. Si puedes caminar 2-3 horas seguidas y tienes determinación, puedes hacerlo. Lo que más necesitas no es condición atlética: es querer estar ahí.

Día 1 — Llegada a Río Tek
Partida desde Santa Elena de Uairén / San Francisco de Yuruaní en 4x4 hasta Paraitepuy. Registro con la comunidad Pemón y comienzo del Trek por la sabana abierta. Primera noche en el Campamento Río Tek.

Día 2 — Llegada al Campamento Base
Trek continuado por sabana y selva húmeda tropical. Las paredes verticales de Roraima comienzan a dominar el horizonte. Llegada al campamento base (1,870m). El momento en que todo se vuelve real.

Día 3 — Ascenso por el Paso Las Lágrimas
El día más exigente y más épico. Ascenso por el único acceso natural al tepuy: el Paso Las Lágrimas, siguiendo la pared entre cascadas y vegetación densa. Al llegar arriba: otro planeta.

Días 4–5 — Exploración del Tepuy
El Punto Triple, El Foso, La Ventana, piscinas naturales de jacuzzi, Lago Gladys, La Proa, Valle de Cristales. Dos días completos explorando la cima. Amaneceres sobre las nubes.

Día 5 — Descenso al Río Tek
Descenso por el Paso Las Lágrimas — el tramo más emocionalmente intenso del Trek. De regreso a través de las cascadas, el campamento base y hasta el Campamento Río Tek. La cima queda atrás. La mayoría no habla mucho ese tramo.

Día 6 — Regreso a Paraitepuy
Última caminata por la sabana abierta hasta Paraitepuy. Traslado en 4x4 a Santa Elena / San Francisco de Yuruaní. Fin de la expedición. El paisaje que te acompañó toda la semana se despide lentamente por la ventana.

03 · Cuándo ir
No hay mal momento. Hay distintos Roraima.
Roraima es accesible todo el año. El clima en la cima siempre es impredecible — calor, frío, sol y lluvia pueden ocurrir en el mismo día. Lo que cambia entre temporadas es el ambiente, no la posibilidad.

⚡ El Misterio Pemón
Los Pemón afirman que el clima de Roraima no depende del mes ni de la estación: depende de la vibra del grupo que sube. Un grupo con el espíritu correcto encuentra sol en plena temporada de lluvias. Un grupo con tensión interna, niebla espesa incluso en enero. No es meteorología. Es algo más antiguo que eso.

04 · El Mundo Pemón
Lo que los Pemón saben que la ciencia tardó millones de años en confirmar.
Roraima no es solo una formación geológica. Para los Pemón — el pueblo indígena que ha habitado la Gran Sabana desde tiempos inmemoriales — este tepuy es el centro del universo. Y tienen razones para creerlo.
115 tepuyes en el mundo
Más del 90% están en Venezuela. Los únicos similares se encuentran en el Sahara africano — separados hace 180 millones de años cuando el supercontinente Pangea se dividió.
La roca más antigua del planeta
La formación Roraima data de 1,700–1,800 millones de años. Datada por método Uranio-Plomo (U-Pb). Precámbrico. Anterior a cualquier forma de vida compleja en la Tierra.
Roraima y su gemelo africano
Las formaciones del Sahara y los tepuyes venezolanos son la misma roca, separada por la deriva continental. Roraima y su hermano africano alguna vez fueron el mismo lugar.
El significado del nombre
"Roraima" en lengua Pemón significa Gran Verde Azulado — una descripción exacta de lo que ven desde la sabana: una meseta inmensa cubierta de vegetación que se funde con el cielo.
🌿 La Leyenda del Árbol del Mundo
Los Pemón creen que Roraima era el árbol más grande del mundo — un árbol que sostenía todas las frutas y alimentos del planeta. Un espíritu malévolo lo taló. Al caer, el tronco se convirtió en la meseta que hoy vemos. Por eso la cima es plana: es la base del árbol. Por eso la sabana tiene poca vegetación: las semillas y frutas se dispersaron al caer. El tepuy no es una montaña. Es la raíz del mundo.

Roraima vs Kukenan
Hermanos opuestos en la cosmovisión Pemón. Roraima es el tepuy sagrado y protector. Kukenan — visible desde el camino — es conocido como el tepuy oscuro. Los guías Pemón transmiten esa energía diferente desde el primer día.
Los Canaimo
Espíritus oscuros que según los Pemón habitan la sabana y los tepuyes. No son folklore — son parte de la realidad cotidiana de los guías. Incluso hoy, ningún Pemón camina solo de noche cerca del tepuy.

No eres atleta. No importa.
El Trek no requiere experiencia técnica en montañismo. Lo que sí requiere es honestidad contigo mismo y preparación mínima de 4-6 semanas antes de la expedición.

02 · How the expedition works
6 days unlike anything you've ever done.
The Roraima Trek covers approximately 65km in total. It's not for everyone — but it's also not technical climbing. If you can walk 2-3 hours in a row and have determination, you can do it. What you need most isn't athletic condition: it's wanting to be there.

Day 1 — Arrival at Río Tek
Departure from Santa Elena de Uairén / San Francisco de Yuruaní by 4x4 to Paraitepuy. Registration with the Pemón community and start of the Trek across open savanna. First night at Río Tek Camp.

Day 2 — Arrival at Base Camp
Trek continues through savanna and tropical humid jungle. Roraima's vertical walls begin to dominate the horizon. Arrival at base camp (1,870m). The moment when everything becomes real.

Day 3 — Ascent through Paso Las Lágrimas
The most demanding and most epic day. Ascent through the only natural access to the tepui: Paso Las Lágrimas, following Roraima's wall between waterfalls and dense vegetation. At the top: another planet.

Days 4–5 — Tepui Exploration
Triple Point, El Foso, La Ventana, natural jacuzzi pools, Lake Gladys, La Proa, Valley of Crystals. Two full days exploring the summit. Sunrises above the clouds.

Day 5 — Descent to Río Tek
Descent through Paso Las Lágrimas — the most emotionally intense stretch of the entire Trek. Back through the waterfalls, base camp, and down to Río Tek Camp. The summit recedes behind you. Most people don't say much on this stretch.

Day 6 — Return to Paraitepuy
Final hike across the open savanna back to Paraitepuy. Transfer by 4x4 to Santa Elena / San Francisco de Yuruaní. End of expedition. The landscape that accompanied you all week fades slowly past the window.

03 · When to go
There's no bad time. There are different Roraimas.
Roraima is accessible year-round. The weather at the summit is always unpredictable — heat, cold, sun and rain can all happen in the same day. What changes between seasons is the atmosphere, not the possibility.

Safer, more accessible trails. Best visibility from the summit. Ideal for a first expedition.

May — October
Monumental waterfalls. Fewer groups on the trail. More dramatic, cinematic atmosphere.

The Pemón claim that Roraima's weather depends not on the month or season, but on the vibe of the group that climbs. A group with the right spirit finds sun in the height of rainy season. A group carrying tension: thick fog even in January. It isn't meteorology. It's something older than that.

04 · The Pemón World
What the Pemón have always known that science took millions of years to confirm.
Roraima is not just a geological formation. For the Pemón — the indigenous people who have inhabited the Gran Sabana since time immemorial — this tepui is the center of the universe. And they have reasons to believe it.
115 tepuis in the world
Over 90% are in Venezuela. The only similar formations exist in the African Sahara — separated 180 million years ago when the supercontinent Pangea broke apart.
The oldest rock on the planet
The Roraima formation dates back 1,700–1,800 million years. Dated by Uranium-Lead (U-Pb) method. Precambrian. Before any complex life existed on Earth.
Roraima and its African twin
The Saharan formations and Venezuela's tepuis are the same rock, separated by continental drift. Roraima and its African counterpart were once the same place.
The meaning of the name
"Roraima" in the Pemón language means Great Blue-Green — an exact description of what they see from the savanna: an immense plateau covered in vegetation that blends into the sky.
🌿 The Legend of the World Tree
The Pemón believe Roraima was the greatest tree in the world — a tree that held all the fruits and food of the planet. A malevolent spirit cut it down. As it fell, the trunk became the plateau we see today. That is why the summit is flat: it is the base of the tree. That is why the savanna has little vegetation: the seeds and fruits scattered when it fell. The tepui is not a mountain. It is the root of the world.

Roraima vs Kukenan
Opposite brothers in Pemón cosmology. Roraima is the sacred, protective tepui. Kukenan — visible from the trail — is known as the dark tepui. Pemón guides transmit that different energy from day one.

Dark spirits that according to the Pemón inhabit the savanna and the tepuis. Not folklore — part of the daily reality of the guides. Even today, no Pemón walks alone at night near the tepui.

You're not an athlete. That's fine.
The Trek doesn't require technical mountaineering experience. What it does require is honesty with yourself and a minimum 4-6 weeks of preparation before the expedition.
